The Aloe Vera is a medicinal and ornamental succulent with thick, gel-filled leaves. It's one of the easiest plants to grow — perfect for sunny windowsills, balconies, and rock gardens.
Light
Bright light to full sun. Will tolerate some shade but grows more slowly.
Water
Water sparingly. Only when the soil is completely dry — every 2–3 weeks in summer, once a month in winter. The leaves store water, so when in doubt, don't water.
Where it thrives
Sunny kitchen windows (the gel is handy for minor burns), balconies, and outdoor rock gardens. Pairs well with other succulents.
Care schedule
- Water sparingly. Use cactus mix for best drainage.
- Remove the small pups (babies) that form at the base to propagate new plants.
Common issues
- Mushy, yellow leaves: Overwatering. Cut back immediately.
- Thin, curled leaves: Not enough light.
Pro tips
- Snap a leaf, slice it open, and apply the gel directly to minor burns, sunburn, or insect bites. The plant is its own first-aid kit.
